Development funds are not exclusive to BN voters

I refer to the Malaysiakini article ‘Gerakan calls Dyana ‘liar’ on Perkasa issue’ dated May 27, 2014.
I find the statement from Liang Teck Meng, Gerakan secretary-general-cum-Simpang Rengam MP, in his press conference held in Teluk Intan most disturbing, where he said and I quote from the report:
“If she says she wants to strengthen facilities for the youth, where’s allocation coming from? Only when BN asks will there be allocation for development.”
As a senior leader of the party contesting in a by-election, I fully expect him to support and endorse his party candidate who happens to be also his boss. But I feel that his statement demeans the concept and role of people representatives and the sanctity of a democracy-elected government system.
All Malaysians are entitled to lobby and request for government assistance be it in any form and kind. Just because the voter in the constituents did not vote in the ruling government’s party candidate does not mean he is less Malaysian. He or she is still subjected to the same legal framework and taxation system in operation all over the country.
For a two-term Member of Parliament to say that only when BN asks will there be development allocation makes a complete mockery of our election and democracy systems.
Is he saying that people living in 89 parliament constituencies held by Pakatan Rakyat can expect no development funds from the government notwithstanding they are taxpayers and true blue Malaysians?
In one breath is he also saying that his fellow BN opposition assemblypersons in Pakatan-held states can expect no help assistance from the respective state governments?
If that is the case, I advise him to check carefully with his brethren first before coming with such statement because Pakatan Rakyat governments do not distinguish or segregate people’s representatives based on political parties because when it comes to the rakyat’s welfare, and we respect the choice made by the people in the election.
If that is the stand taken by Gerakan, I urge their president to give an official declaration of this stand and better still I urge our prime minister to clarify this stand taken by a BN Member of Parliament whether this is this official position of the BN government. The last I checked, Najib Abdul Razak is the prime minster for all Malaysians and not just prime minister of all Barisan National voters. Or am I mistaken?
