Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has alleged that DAP is tricking Malay voters in Teluk Intan that its candidate Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud can jump ship to join Umno if she wins the by-election.

Muhyiddin assured voters that BN's candidate was Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong, not DAP's Dyana.

"She is contesting on DAP ticket, therefore she is a DAP candidate. Umno will not accept anyone who contests on the opposition party ticket. This is their trickery.

"I don't think the voters here should be duped and influenced by such statements as we have our candidate, who is Mah," Muhyiddin ( left ) was reported saying by Berita Harian after a highway ground-breaking ceremony near Teluk Intan on Sunday.

He claimed that the opposition used this tactic when going on house-to-house campaigns in Malay villages.

Despite being called a traitor to her race by some Umno leaders, Dyana has said that she was contesting under DAP to usher in an era of race-free politics in Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Muhyiddin also vehemently denied that BN had anything to do with a bikini pamphlet campaign to smear Dyana's name.

"Don't make statements, accusations and allegations that have no basis. If they are not happy, they can ask the police to investigate.

"But I want to refute that it has anything to do with us. We don't do dirty tactics," he told Berita Harian .

A fake photograph of Dyana in a bikini, which first appeared on the Internet, has re-emerged in a number of Malay villages a week into the Teluk Intan by-election campaign.
