Sometimes I do wonder if the people like Bob Lam just support everything the PM says whether it makes sense or not ('Veteran politicians should heed 'time's up' advice'). If you read between the lines Dr M just want the old ones to leave so that it will save Abdullah Ahmad Badawi from asking these "hanger-ons" to leave.

Most of them are having a good life with the perks of office that it will be close to impossible to ask them to leave on their own. Maybe some are being arm-twisted by the PM to make them leave. As it is now, even after the call by the PM to ask the oldies to retire, Dr Lim Keng Yaik has openly mentioned that he would not retire.

To say that MCA is more forward-looking and progressive than other parties is a load of rubbish. If the former MCA president and his deputy did not have a fallout, they will still be leading MCA, and Ong Ka Ting will still be waiting in the wings.

To be progressive is not have youthful presidents or leaders. To be progressive, we must have leaders that have the guts to speak out against any injustices affecting any community.

The cabinet members are in the cabinet at the PM's pleasure, so for the PM to ask them to make way for younger people is just hogwash. All the PM needs to do is just remove them from his cabinet.
