Political cartoonist Zunar has challenged those featured in his latest comic book and are upset to sue him if they find his work to be untrue.

The four in his cartoon ‘Komplot Penjara Anwar: Najib jatuh hukum, hakim ikut skrip’ (Plot to imprison Anwar: Najib sentences, judge follow the script) are former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, former finance minister Daim Zainuddin, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor.

Expressing his doubts about the judiciary, he claimed  that there is no justice even if backed by strong evidence.

“Today I challenge these four to sue me. If what I have written is wrong, just sue. I have no issues coming in and out of Malaysia’s courts, it is the norm for me.

“When it comes to Malaysian courts, we lose the moment we step inside. It is not enough to have strong evidence and testimonies when we go to a Malaysian court, it no longer has any meaning,” he said during his book launch at the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall (KLSCAH) last night.

His 20th book revolves around what he alleged to be a government plot to imprison PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim under false pretexts

He said the 52-page book - available in English and Malay language editions - contains 50 new cartoons and captions detailing the alleged conspiracy from Mahathir’s administration up to Najib’s.

The cartoonist whose  real name is  Zulkiflee Anwar Haque, had been detained under the Sedition Act before for his work. Seven of his previous books had been banned by the government.

He was honoured with the ‘Courage in Editorial Cartooning’ award in 2011 by the US-based Cartoonist Rights Network International.

Also present at the launch yesterday were national laureate A Samad Said, former Bar Council president Ambiga Sreenevasan and Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar.
