TELUK INTAN DAP candidate Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud today denied she is the party's "puppet" in the coming Teluk Intan parliamentary by-election.

"No, that's a non-issue," Dyana said to repeated questions at a press conference over the label accorded to her for reportedly not being able to answer controversial questions on her own.

"I think it is pretty obvious that I have been given the chance to voice out whatever I have to say. As you can see, in my previous ceramah, press conferences and articles, are all said and written by me," she said.

Gerakan has made an issue of Dyana's response on hudud, and called her a puppet at a press conference today.

Dyana's stand on hudud is contradictory, Gerakan said, as she claims she does not reject hudud but she will reject the Hudud Bill when it is tabled in parliament.

She need to have a clear stand on this, said Gerakan national organising secretary Lau Hoi Keong.

"From the way Lim Kit Siang and Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching aswered the question for her, we can see the newbie is well-protected. With her background and being a Muslim, it's hard to determine her quality," he had said.

"If the voters only vote for a puppet, how is the candidate who is parachuted into Teluk Intan able to voice up in Parliament and serve the community, when she has no idea of the problems here?"

Dyana was asked the question towards the end at the press conference today.

When she first heard the question, she urged the media to elaborate on the context of her being described as puppet.

Ample freedom to say what she likes

When Dyana's answers were interjected by Lim, and Gerakan said she has no freedom to speak, elaborated a reporter.

A perplexed Lim asked the media, "When did I interject, and who has alleged this?"

Another reporter urged Lim to let Dyana answer for herself.

Dyana later rebutted she has ample freedom to say what she likes.

Another reporter then cited the incident where Lim had ‘snatched’ the microphone from her, and was quick to speak on her behalf.

"I took the microphone from her, as she was asked a question on the issue of  former DAP vice-chairperson Tunku Abdul Aziz Ibrahim, on which she has no knowledge," said Lim.

"He is the best person to answer this question. This did not happen during my time. I cannot answer, I would still give him the mike," said Dyana.
