I've been reading malaysiakini for more than one year but this week contains the most interesting news ever to date.

Our nation is facing a forgery cheque scam where some state governments have been cheated of large sums of money. In the Dewan Raykat, the excessive claims issue by 14 members of parliament is brewing like a boiling water kettle over a hot stove.

We have students resorting to physical violence in some colleges. Statistics of crimes, particularly cases of stolen cars and snatch thefts, reached alarming proportions as disclosed in Parliament. Nearer to the Klang Valley, we have a local council fighting tooth and nail over a playing field. There doesn't seem to have any more good news these days.

Sometimes, I believe many like me tend to ask ourselves "what is happening to this country?" We have a prime minister who is more interested in travelling overseas promoting our country's image and boosting trade ties than local governance.

Never mind, Malaysians have very short memories. By the next general election, all the bad news would be forgotten and probably forgiven too. But things will be normal again after the elections. Malaysians will begin another cycle of blaming the government of the day, and probably regretted for having voted it in. Life goes on. As the Buddhists would say, the "samsara" or wheel of life repeats over and over again, like the four seasons.

It's sad but most Malaysian voters are comfortably gullible. So let's await the next general election.
