Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has denied bribing members to vote for him in the ongoing PKR by-election.

Abdul Khalid, who is running for the deputy president post, however, admitted that he did provide transport to ferry members to and from polling centres.

He nonetheless urged those who are unhappy to lodge complaints to the polls committee.

“Complaints and follow up actions are important in order for us to show PKR's polling procedures are clean.

“I also apologise to all PKR members for failures in the polling process. We really hope for holistic reform,” Khalid (left) tweeted.

He was responding to a question by reporters in Kuala Selangor on allegations by Kuala Selangor division chief candidate S Manikavasagam. 

Manikavasagam reportedly said that Khalid had bribed members with as much as RM50 per person.

“I have evidence of video recordings (on money politics) and will upload it soon.

"I received complaints that party voters are being bribed RM30 to vote for candidates contesting for national posts and RM20 for Kuala Selangor division chief post,” Manikavasagam (right) is quoted by Bernama as saying.

He added that he would file an objection to the PKR election committee if he loses the Kuala Selangor PKR division post to Khalid.

The party polls ends today with the exception of at least 17 divisions where polling and results have been suspended.

Re-polling for affected divisions will take place later this month.

According to the latest official results, Khalid has raked in 6,217 votes, trailing incumbent deputy president Azmin Ali by more than 4000 votes. Azmin is leads with 9,876 votes.

Third contender Saifuddin Nasution trails with 5,717 votes.
