Chew, are you saying Utusan not lopsided?

YOURSAY ‘With leaders like this, MCA is as dead as a salted fish.’
MCA blames Guan Eng for fall in freedom ranking
Lamborghini: "Malaysia's press freedom ranked 147th among 180 countries and (Penang Chief Minister) Lim Guan Eng's oppression against the media is part of the major factor which contributed to the low ranking in press freedom," said MCA vice-president Chew Mei Fun.
Chew, I used to think that you are a few of the remaining credible MCA leaders left.
It is clear you have been brainwashed by BN propaganda, Utusan Malaysia and New Straits Times (NST) that you have become a totally discredited, discarded politician.
My toes are laughing and my heart is crying when a supposedly educated, intelligent person like you can come to such an incomprehensible, illogical conclusion.
Are you saying that our press is totally free and Utusan, NST, Kwong Wah Yit Poh , TV1, TV2, TV3, are not lopsided in their reporting? Are you saying that the judges are biased when Lim won many lawsuits against Utusan and NST?
Think before you talk, and when you talk, please talk sense, not nonsense.
Quigonbond: One question for Chew Mei Fun - is a threat to sue someone for spreading malicious lies repressive compared with laws that can pull back licences at the discretion of the Home Ministry for anything ranging from criticism of the government to having a moderated intellectual discourse over sensitive matters?
This argument of your did not fly previously, and never will.
Kit P: MCA was silent when a newspaper The Heat was suspended last year. Add to that the numerous occasions when government officials "advised" - meaning ordered - mainstream newspapers to publish only certain news and ignore other news. Those are the real reasons why the Press Freedom Index has fallen.
Survivor: Chew, I am wondering how your comment is going to help the current regime in gaining popularity or saving MCA.
It is certainly digging the grave of MCA deeper than it should be, and would not help an iota in BN regaining anything. You must realise, the fall and demise of the current regime is imminent.
No amount of allegations, accusations and innuendoes is going to help your sinking ship. You just got to walk the talk and do things right and correct MCA's past misdeeds and not let your attitudes continue to rule your head.
Mushiro: Chew acknowledges that Malaysia's press freedom has gone to the dogs. MCA's cowardice in pointing this out to Prime Minister Najib Razak and MCA's The Star's complicity in this is mainly to be blamed.
Drngsc: Under the Najib regime, everything is going to the dogs. Chew, your BN government (of which you are a part ), has destroyed any fairness in the press, judiciary and the Home Ministry. They have destroyed everything.
Now we have to fight to right all the wrongs that MCA-BN has destroyed. Do you not know that you are just supporting a failed, destructive regime? Shame on you.
Sabahan: This is the reason why MCA is rejected by educated and informed Chinese Malaysians. Arguments are twisted and hollow and as usual full of lies. With leaders like this, MCA is as dead as a salted fish.
Bumiborn: Twisting of facts again and thinking the rakyat is stupid. Press freedom means the press are free to report the truth, not reporting lies. Suing the paper that lies is the right thing to do.
Mosquitobrain: Chew, are you seeking cheap publicity? No matter how much you comment or curse your political foes, MCA is already a 'goner'. Give yourself a little space to breathe. It will do you some good. A simple advise: "In politics, there is always no wrong or right."
Do not run down people just because of differences in political platforms and ideologies. Do something good and constructive for the people to salvage and also prevent the country from further destruction by the devils. That is good karma for you.
Anonymous_1395411723: And this was the MCA candidate for the Kajang by-election. Talking rubbish as usual. Her definition of press freedom is her own and not shared by the rest of the world.
Can she and MCA fight for the bigger issues that plague our country and its people, ie corruption, racism, rising prices, a declining education system, a declining economy, etc? This fight would maybe earn the ‘running dog’ some respect.
YUNoAnon: Chew, are you saying you condone the lying and spinning done by Utusan and BN-controlled media?
Unless you are truly stupid and ignorant, have you forgotten that Umno does not allow Malaysiakini at their press conferences?
Would you agree that they, too, are equally at fault? If you have any intelligence in you, you would not disagree to this.
Multi Racial: This accusation from Chew of MCA goes to prove one of two things - MCA leaders have no brains or MCA leaders think Malaysians have no brains.
Spinnot: So would you blame crime victims for raising the crime rate because they reported the crimes to the police?
J Ng: Chew seemed to have lost all her dignity and principles since joining the top rank in MCA. Her presence in MCA is not going to help in reviving Chinese support for the party. It was fortunate that she was not elected Kajang assemblyperson.
MCA must openly criticise the government on policies that are unfair in order to regain Chinese support.
Sadly, many in MCA are in no position to do so due to aspirations for government positions. Perception or otherwise, this is how the Chinese feels about MCA politicians.
EvenSteven: Let's look at the positive side of things. We're better off than 33 other countries. No?
