Swipenter: The arrogance and abuse of position these Umno Baru politicians are capable off is beyond comprehension.
 
Even if he went to a private hospital or clinic he still has to wait for his turn. What a display of self-importance and self-aggrandisement by Health and Sports Development executive councillor Abdul Rahman Abdul Karim.
 
His ego must be terribly hurt by the pharmacy staff not recognising him and falling head over heels to serve him that he went back fuming and gotten the Malacca Health Department to issue this directive to all pharmacies in the state.
 
It is really worrisome that such an act of self-importance and arrogance is coming from a state executive councillor. I wonder how widespread this kind behaviour is.
 
Lynn Cheang: We expect the health minister to censure the Malacca Health Department for coming out with such an audacious directive.
 
Abdul Rahman forgets that civil servants right up to the prime minister are paid from taxpayers' funds and thus are there to serve the people and not the other way round. How dare they insist that they should be served first.
 
Gerard Lourdesamy: Isn't this the abuse of power that former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad was talking about or it does not apply to Umno leaders?
 
If Abdul Rahman is sick and needs immediate attention, then the same rule should apply to all sick people waiting at the pharmacy for their prescriptions. Since both the exco and the patients are in the same category of sick people, see Article 8 of the Constitution on equality under the law.
 
If the exco member is too sick to wait for a prescription then he should be admitted into the ward to get his medication. Otherwise, please wait your turn.
 
ONG: Congratulations to the person from the Malacca Health Department who so cunningly wrote this directive. I believe that with this directive, he/she has succeeded in screwing the exco (Abdul Rahman) good and proper, which was his/her real intention.
 
Amir H: I agree with ONG. This directive looks a bit tongue in cheek, peppered with cynicism and with the sole intention of discrediting this leech of an exco. Kudos to the writer.
 
Paul Warren: I think this notice from the state health department has been put out more to embarrass Abdul Rahman than to grant him what he wishes.
 
So let him go and show his authority letter to the clerical staff to get his priority attendance. He probably is already the laughing stock there. Just that he might be so dumb that he fails to realise it.
 
Ferdtan: Wow, Abdul Rahman, you are more privileged than any bumiputera I know - can jump queue at government pharmacy.
 
Let us put his photo in the newspaper; otherwise we may not recognise him when he jumps queue and we may attack him due to mistaken identity and also ignorant of a fact that he has ‘royal’ right.
 
By the way, Abdul Rahman, you must be a poor soul. From what we know most Umno politicians, especially the positioned ones, are rich - filthy rich - so why are you taking medication at the government pharmacies? 
 
If I were to see you in the line-up I certainly will give way to you - you deserve to be in front as we don’t get to see a poor Umno politician, especially an exco member. It is a rare species.
 
Avenger: Another low-class politician who wants first-class service, while ordinary people wait. Remember the incident in the LCCT in Sepang when a VIP and his family jumped the queue at the Immigration? Does equality mean nothing?
 
These are the type of bumis who wrongly get at taxpayers' expense government contracts, loans, scholarships, and benefits. And the deserving poor suffer.
 
When queuing, let us give more of a chance to the ill, the disabled, the elderly, pregnant women, and very young children and their care-givers.
 
And the civil servants concerned here showed no class either. They lick the boots of their political masters and, since they have no self-worth, they ill-treat the ordinary public so as to feel better.
 
In the 1978 general elections, the then Lord President Mohamed Suffian Hashim was shown on television queuing to cast his vote. Real class!
 
LKT: The arrogant of ‘ketuanan’ Umno is alive and kicking for all to see. This is what the foolish 47% of Malaysian has voted for exactly one year ago.
 
I am one of the 52% who will never ever give my vote to Umno or its proxy for I know in my gut that a leopard never loses its spot.
 
The sooner more of the 47% realise their folly in believing/trusting Umno, the faster Umno will be history.
 
Oriole: Hello, Mr Exco Man. You are the servant of the people, paid by the people to attend to the needs of the nation. Learn to wait your turn.
 
Otherwise, get out of politics and found your own feudal state to have slaves to jump to your orders.
 
Rahmanwang: This exco member should get his medicine from Guardian pharmacy. No queue there all the time.
