I am a Malaysian. That is how I like myself to be identified. I agree with the sentiment portrayed in malaysiakini that anybody and everybody should be allowed to discuss matters pertaining to how they are expected to live.

Since religious sectors want to govern, they should not be afraid to hear dissenting voices. It is about time we open our minds and accept that not every Malaysians, whether they are Muslims or not, want to be govern by Islamic laws.

It does not follow that once you are born in a Muslim family, you must be govern by Islamic law. Do I have a choice here? Of course I do ... I will choose the party that will implement laws that is fair and just to all! Not a party that will divide Malaysians, but a party that will keep us together.

I cannot see anywhere from the malaysiakini letters I have read sounding anti-Islam at all. Those views are legitimate. It is a view shared by many others. If religious parties feel they have the right to convince us that they are the right people to govern, then they should be willing to hear positive or negative views from all.
