Umno's Tanjong Karang MP Noh Omar has openly declared support for the PAS plan to implement hudud in Kelantan by tabling a Bill in Parliament to remove legal hurdles at the federal level.

However, Noh said, he would first like to be briefed on the Bill by the Kelantan government.

"Personally, as an MP, if it is tabled in Parliament, I will support if it is done correctly.

"They (Kelantan government) have said they want to explain, so I am waiting for their explanation. I will attend (if a briefing is held) and it will be a priority for me to hear them out," he told journalists in Shah Alam today.

Noh declared his personal stance even though the BN leadership has yet to make a decision on the Kelantan proposal.

Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said yesterday the BN would make clear its stand on the matter only after PAS tables the Bill at the next sitting of Parliament.

Four non-Muslim member parties of the BN, namely MCA, Gerakan, Liberal Democratic Party and Sarawak United People's Party, have said their nine MPs would vote against the bill if it is tabled.

On this, Noh said the BN parties were free to state their own opinions but he reiterated his support for hudud in Kelantan.
