Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim explained today that state economic adviser Anwar Ibrahim's office does not influence him in making administrative decisions.

According to him, as the chief executive of the state, he is fully responsible for any decision he makes, even if he does take advice from the economic adviser’s office.

Khalid (left) equated this to decisions made by the prime minister, despite taking advice from his own advisers.

"We have discussions from time to time and this is also done by the PM with his advisers. The decisions taken by his advisers are not necessarily followed by the PM," he told the state assembly today.

"I will be surprised if the PM’s decisions are made together with his advisers. It’s better that we always discuss and that the decision is the responsibility of the executive. I cannot say that a decision is made by my adviser," Khalid added.

Khalid was responding to a question from Shahrum Mohd Sharif (BN-Dengkil) who wanted to know what was the role of the state economic adviser.

He said that the economic adviser’s office has three staff members - with one chief of staff, one communications executive and a personal assistant.

The expenditure to pay salaries for all three is RM25,350 a month, he said.

Around RM 150,000 is spent annually for the operations of the economic adviser’s office, he added, saying that from 2010 to 2013, the state had spent around RM433,00 for operations of the office.
