Malay rights NGO Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali has labelled DAP and PKR as "insolent" for reportedly trying to stop PAS attempting to implement hudud in Kelantan.
 
"Hudud is an Islamic law and almost 95 percent of Kelantanese are Muslims. The hudud mooted by the Kelantan state government is for Muslims alone. DAP does not exist in Kelantan," he said in a statement today.
 
He said that it was out of order for DAP to stop Muslims for implementing hudud while at the same time wanting Christians to continue using the word ‘Allah’ to refer to God in Malay.
 
"They always talk about human rights, democracy, and religious freedom. When it comes to issues of Islamic interests, they give all sorts of excuses," he said.
 
"It is clear that DAP and their allies do not respect Islam," he said.
 
He said that the challenge is now is whether PAS would maintain its alliance with DAP which is disrespectful of Islam.
 
'Pakatan must walk talk'

Meanwhile, MCA Wanita chief Heng Seai Kie in a separate statement said that Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim must stop PAS from tabling a Private Member's Bill in Parliament to enable hudud to be implemented in Kelantan.

Heng (right) said Pakatan should "walk the talk" by protecting the interests of multiracial Malaysia and rejecting the hudud law.
 
"Since Anwar had repeatedly assured that Pakatan is a political coalition for all races, that it fights for the rights of all Malaysians, I would like to challenge him, if he is a man of his word.

"If he is a man who keeps to his promise, he should stop keeping mum and stop PAS from tabling the motion," Heng said today.

At a press conference earlier, Anwar said that Umno is only jumping on the Hudud bandwagon for political mileage.
 
While saying that Umno does not have a moral standing to talk about the matter, Anwar maintained that Pakatan as a coalition, would sit down and hear PAS' version of events. He also admitted that a new resolution is needed to state the coalition's stand on hudud.
