An unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) reading was recorded in Paka, Terengganu with the index rising to 151 at 12 noon today compared with 146 at 7am.

The Department of Environment (DOE) portal also showed a moderate reading for seven areas namely Alor Setar (51), Tanah Merah (53), Nilai (54), Balok Baru (78), SK Jalan Pegoh (52), Kangar (57) and Bintulu (56).

An API reading of between zero and 50 indicates good air quality, between 51 and 100 (moderate), between 101 and 200 (unhealthy), between 201 and 300 (very unhealthy) and over 301 (hazardous).

The public can refer to the portal, http://www.doe.gov.my , to learn of the API readings for their areas.
