I find that certain certain people have the wrong perception of the purpose of having a strong opposition. There have been many calls from concerned citizens that DAP or Keadilan should engage in a three-corner fight over disputed areas.

These calls are both irresponsible and immature.

Isn't the main objectives of the opposition parties to reduce the winning margin of the BN? Isn't it giving the people better representation the whole point? Does gaining political mileage for either the DAP or Keadilan be seen as the onus on the rakyat?

While I respect the opinion of others, I ask readers who would like to see DAP and Keadilan to go alone to consider the bigger picture. It doesn't matter who stands where. Who cares what are to be considered traditional seats?

What matters to putting a huge dent in the BN's machinery, and showing the rakyat that the opposition is a force to be reckoned with and as a body whom the people of Malaysia can depend on.

How will the mud-slinging between the DAP and Keadilan benefit the people? DAP and Keadilan should never be on different ends. They should never be enemies. Aren't they fighting for the same cause?

I urge that the DAP and Keadilan focus all their energy, manpower and goodwill into resolving the ongoing conflict. Losing a few 'traditional' or 'potential' seats is nothing compared to having a disgruntled and weak opposition.

Let it be a reminder that if you do not shape up and be gracious to your allies, all of us - the people of Malaysia - will stand to lose.
