Wan Junaidi apologises for 'shut resorts' remark
FellowMalaysian: Damage has been done by Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar’s hurtful words and his apology will not undo the harm.
As deputy home minister, Wan Junaidi has expressed his concern and reservations in the security forces being able to provide adequate defence of the seas surrounding East Sabah and ensuring the security of the resorts from attacks.
No amount of apologies will be able to erase the fear in the minds of tourists or resort crews alike unwittingly engendered by Wan Junaidi's caution.
Lim Chong Leong: This hardly qualifies as an apology. He still does not admit to making the statement and still does not accept that his statement has hurt people. And he is not sorry. Wan Junaidi, apology not accepted.
Sabahan: This politician has been ill-advised in his apology. The second part supposedly omitted, in which he claims to have said "we cannot close down the resorts as they are a key part of the tourism infrastructure", does not in any way diminish the irresponsibility and callousness of his remark - he wants the resorts closed down.
R1: Indeed, even if the latter part was quoted, it doesn't mean you never intended to close down the resorts. It just means that you can't.
Aries46: Wan Junaidi is at it again with his foot-in-the-mouth affliction. He is reported to have made a careless and insensitive remark that he apologises for, but in the same breadth he defends his gaffe, attributing it to misreporting.
Why apologise? If he was misreported, all he needs to do is to clarify his statement. Putting a caveat on an apology renders it impotent and insincere. What a swishy-washy character we have for a deputy home minister.

“The first time you make a mistake it’s an accident, the second time you make the same mistake it’s on purpose, and the third time you make that same mistake it’s no longer a mistake, it’s a habit.”
In this case, we have yet come to the third mistake - I hope not. Your excuse of being “taken out of context” is really lame.
If it is true, it only means that you have no communications skills and thus as a politician (more so a minister) - in which this is a requisite for the job - this shows that you are not cut out to be in that office.
You should resign immediately before you make the third mistake.

You still haven't apologised for the first statement you make weeks ago on non-Muslims and statutory rape.

Kangkung: These Umno goons will never apologise. They will always claim to be "misrepresented" as a way to save face. If he thinks he was misrepresented, then he should sue the media company that misreported what he said.

They take protection behind “misrepresentation” or having been “misunderstood”. It is time for this old and tired man to retire.

Hmmmmmmmm: To even have that thought in your mind that the resorts should be shut down is bad enough, considering that you are actually the deputy home minister.
That shows how much confidence you have in your own ministry as well as the Defence Ministry.

It’s best for the Education Ministry to work harder to further lower the level of education among Malaysians, so that in the near future, all Malaysians will be as dumb as these Umno politicians and not mix up what they saying.
