Selangor should not shift responsibility on the RM6 million spent for maintenance of the official residences of the state executive councillors because it is within its power to change the contractor, MCA central committee member Ng Chok Sin said today.

Ng also challenged the state government to name and blacklist the contractors who maintained the 10 buildings in a residential enclave in Shah Alam.

“We want to know why no action has been taken against these contractors over the past five years. And still, we have to waste such a huge amount of money?

“The authorities should investigate these contractors and how they got the contract.

 “Selangor Pakatan Rakyat,  especially PKR, is only focusing on power struggles and infighting. They have not been serious in managing the state affairs,” Ng said in a statement today.
 
The Auditor-General Report’s 2013 said the management of the buildings has been “unsatisfactory”, with RM6 million spent on their upkeep. The residences have a low occupancy rate and the rental rates are far from sufficient to cover the maintenance.

Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim in his response said the maintenance contract was signed when BN was in power, and that he would seek to reduce the costs, including the possibility of replacing the contractor.
