Two DAP MPs have questioned Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s costly five-day trip to Dubai that is currently taking place, saying that the trip appears to have Muhyiddin clocking more hours at the golf course than doing work.

Bukit Mertajam's Steven Sim and Bukit Bendera's Zairil Khir Johari based this on a whistleblower blog that published what appears to be Muhyiddin’s five-day itinerary in Dubai.

According to the itinerary, Muhyiddin's official work is only between 10am to 1pm today, on April 9.

The rest of his schedule is filled with "private" engagements, "informal" dinners, and also two trips to the golf course.

The MPs questioned who is footing the bill for the trip, which, according to the published itinerary, was made using a "special aircraft".

Malaysiakini is contacting the deputy prime minister's aide for comment.

The Education Ministry was allocated the largest allocation under Budget 2014 and the MPs questioned if this was being used for trips such as the trip to Dubai.

“While there is no doubt that education is a critical area to be focusing our resources on, the government should be spending on real programmes that improve student outcomes and not on expensive leisure trips for the deputy prime minister to play golf,” Zairil said.

Sim and Zairil also urged the Auditor-General’s Office to investigate not only the Dubai trip, but any other trip that Muhyiddin made recently.
