The walls of Bangunan Tunku in Jalan Tunku Ibrahim in Alor Setar, which houses the state Umno office, is among several buildings marred by scribblings of the word 'R4MASI 2.0' (Reformasi 2.0) in red paint.

Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir, in a media statement, said the provocative act was against the democratic practices and culture in the state.

"I am worried that the incitement by some leaders will encourage their supporters to be fanatical and irrational to the extent of resorting to extreme actions.

"I fear if this is not curbed immediately, it could result in more serious problems that are difficult to tackle, with all parties at the losing end, especially the people of Kedah themselves," he added in the statement.

Mukhriz also advised Umno supporters not to resort to such an action, but to be rational, calm and patient in facing the provocation.

"Don’t adopt the immoral attitude of those with a shallow mind. I also want the police to investigate the matter (R4MASI 2.0 graffiti) and keep a watch over the offices of all political parties to prevent such an incident from recurring," he said.

Meanwhile, Kedah Umno executive secretary Haris Che Mat said the graffiti was noticed at 5.30am today by the security guard on duty.

"This is the second incident involving this building. The first happened before the 13th general election last year and we view this action as a provocation," he told reporters in Alor Setar.

Haris said besides the Bangunan Tunku, the Jerai Umno division office, a government building in Langkawi, signboard in Pendang and a van owned by Kubang Pasu Umno were also not spared.

"We believe this provocative action is connected to the gathering, Himpunan Derita Rakyat Baling 2.0 which will be held on Saturday in Baling. If it is true, we ask that the police withdraw the permit for the gathering."

He said a police report on the incident had been lodged and a CCTV recording at Bangunan Tunku handed over to the police for further action.
