PARLIAMENT DAP’s Seremban MP Anthony Loke’s motion for the parliament to set up a parliamentary select committee (PSC) over the MH370 crisis has been rejected by speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia.

Instead, Pandikar asked Loke to move the motion for PSC independently rather than appending it with a motion tabled by BN’s Johor Baru MP Shahrir Samad, saying that the issue was “substantive”.

“But for an MP to file an individual motion, it would take 14 days for it to be discussed,” Loke ( right ) said during a press conference today.

“So we urge the government to file the motion instead without wasting any time. A motion by the government will only take one day before it is heard,” he said.

The current Parliament session only has four more days of sitting after today, and any individual motion by an Opposition MP would not be heard in this session.

Meanwhile, Loke also said that he had prepared a notice to be handed over to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Shahidan Kassim regarding a MH370 briefing for Pakatan MPs by the government next Tuesday.

The notice requests for a briefing at 8pm on April 8, at the briefing hall in the Parliament.

Pakatan Rakyat said that if the briefing can’t be held next Tuesday as requested, it must be held sometime next week before the Parliament session ends next Thursday.

They want either acting Transport Minister Hishamuddin Hussein or Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to conduct the briefing.
