One malaysiakini reader had mentioned in his letter about the government failing to use the Internal Security Act to deal with FSFM, the organisation that has become infamous in the Malaysian media recently.

Unlike the Al-Maunah or the Reformasi six who were arrested under the ISA and sent to Kamunting, those who are arrested for FSFM activities were put under remand and will be charged in court.

After reading a lot of news on this issue, I found that the reason why the government does not use the ISA to deal with FSFM is because its members are close with Umno.

News reports, carried on Umno's website, tells how an unnamed deputy division chief from Pemuda Umno is an active high-ranking FSFM leader.

The name of the Prime Minister's Department was used for recruitment purposes, which means that many FSFM members could have also been Umno members. It is unlikely that any PAS or Keadilan members would join an organisation said to be linked with the prime minister.

The FSFM chief allegedly met with Perlis Menteri Besar Shahidan Kasim for donations. This means FSFM members are close to the ruling party, and because of the change of leadership come October, they are now exposed and arrested.

Same as Umno action to dissolve divisional committees and putting new faces to lead the transitional committee, where Mahathir's people are kicked out, replaced by Pak Lah's people.
