The overall air quality in the country improved after dropping to the ‘good’ level today, except for 13 areas which had moderate levels as of 2pm today.
The overall air quality in the country improved after dropping to the ‘good’ level today, except for 13 areas which had moderate levels as of 2pm today.
The Air Pollutant Index (API) readings released by the Department of Environment (DOE) showed the 13 areas with ‘moderate’ Air Pollution Index (API) readings were Bakar Arang (Sungai Petani) (53), Balok Baru (Kuantan) (55), SK Jalan Pegoh (Ipoh) (77), Seri Manjung (53), Tanjung Malim (53), Kangar (55), Perai (73), Seberang Jaya 2 (Perai) (63), USM (70), Banting (60), Kuala Selangor (57), Port Klang (70) and Kemaman (53).
An API reading of between zero and 50 indicates good air quality, between 51 and 100 (moderate), between 101 and 200 (unhealthy), between 201 and 300 (very unhealthy), and over 301 (hazardous).
The public could surf the DOE portal at http://apims.doe.gov.my for an API reading for their area.
