PARLIAMENT The federal government has tabled an additional allocation of RM2.39 billion for the 2013 Budget after overspending the RM251 billion budget that was tabled in 2012.

This is the first supplementary budget that the government has tabled for the 2013 Budget, with the biggest chunk of over RM2 billion directed towards the Treasury for Statutory Funds.

The second highest allocation is RM55 million for the Public Services Department, followed by the Works Ministry with RM53 million, and Communications and Multimedia Ministry with RM47 million.

The supplementary bill was tabled by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Shahidan Kassim today.

The statutory funds are mostly to be used as consolidated funds for the purpose of development.

Just a month before tabling the 2014 budget in October last year, the government sought a RM15 billion supplementary budget in order to plug extra expenditures incurred under the 2012 budget.
