KAJANG With less than 48 hours to go before polling day, Kajang folk who went to several mosques and surau for morning prayers found DAP stickers stuck all over the signboards.

PKR Kajang by-election deputy director Zuraida Kamaruddin said signboards in four mosques and surau, as well as that of the premises of famous Muslim philanthropist Ujang Bagong in Sungai Kantan, Saujana Impian and Kajang Baru also suffered the same fate.

Denying that Pakatan Rakyat workers had any role in it, she said those who did so were out to provoke Malay voters by trying to show that PKR is being controlled by the DAP.

“Voters took pictures of the incident and sent them to us this morning and we immediately sent our boys to clean them up, but of course it is quite difficult as they are stickers,” Zuraida said.

“I want to tell the BN, if they want to lose, lose gracefully. This is a desperate move.”

The discovery of the DAP stickers comes as the Election Commission (EC) took down another 200 PKR banners and billboards in a dawn operation today.

PKR’s Alor Setar MP Gooi Hsien Loong said that the EC enforcement team removed the banners about 5am, claiming the banners featuring a teary-eyed PKR candidate Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and her husband PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim behind bars were "seditious" and "provocative".

The banners also read: “You will never walk alone.”

The removal was on top of PKR banners taken down by the EC yesterday afternoon, for the same reason.

“We are now urging the mosque and surau committees to lodge police reports, while we will make a complaint on the banners,” Zuraida said.

Flooded with anti-Wan Azizah banners

This comes as Kajang is fast being flooded with anti-PKR and anti-Wan Azizah banners unattributed to any party.

Those written in Chinese accuse Wan Azizah of planning to abandon Kajang after Sunday’s by-election, while the banners in Bahasa Malaysia banners ask if PKR is truly fighting for justice for all or only for Anwar.

One banner that cropped up today also states: “Is Kajang for Wan Azizah? For Anwar? Kajang is for BN”.

Asked about these campaign materials, Selangor BN chief Noh Omar denied responsibility and said PKR could print those materials itself and claim to be victimised.

At another press conference, MCA president Liow Tiong Lai urged authorities to take action  against those who splashed red paint on billboards featuring BN candidate Chew Mei Fun.

“I feel very bad about this act. Someone knows that Chew represents justice and the person wants to tarnish her image by splashing red paint,” Liow said.

According to MCA, 10 billboards and banners had been hit by the same treatment,

However, PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil said Pakatan workers are “highly disciplined” and would not do such a thing.

Fahmi said party workers in Saujana Impian, where the affected billboards are located, said the billboards were clean at 3am when police were conducting roadblocks there.

PKR workers had last night also removed 300 buntings featuring a cartoon of Wan Azizah saying “You have been cheated all this while” in Chinese.

“I blame this all on (deputy prime minister) Muhyiddin Yassin, the BN Kajang election director, for stooping this low in this desperado act,” said Zuraida, who is also MP for Ampang and Wanita PKR chief.
