Water ads: Both govts at fault
I'm writing this in response to the letter 'Water ad does little for nation's image' by LCH.
I wonder what does the water ads have in connection with our lack of meritocracy as mentioned by LCH. The letter writer did not elaborate on the matter. I do not find anything wrong with the ads on the water spat. How much details do you want in an advertisement? In fact, have you found any ads that give you the full details on every single thing?
I suggest that LCH read the Strait Times consistently to see the propaganda that Singapore uses to convince their people on the water issue (or any other issues for that matter). You have to agree that they use a more subtle way to 'brainwash' their people rather than direct advertising.
I have rarely read a positive news in the ST relating to news on Malaysia. Most the news are negative, or at most neutral. Even the commentaries are significantly biased. So, I guess this is an immature 'tit for tat' tactic.
Not one party is at fault in this issue. Both parties are at fault, and neither has shown a firm interest in solving the issue. Perhaps, we should compare the booklets published by both our government and the Singapore government to have a better picture before saying more.
