MCA's candidate for the Kajang by-election Chew Mei Fun is mow spearheading the party's crisis relief squad in providing volunteers to aid in the MH 370 missing flight crisis.

In a statement today, Chew said the volunteers were brought in to help with translation and provide emotional support to the families of those who were in the flight.

"The said volunteers are ready to serve in the translation team and embark with Malaysia Airlines (MAS) to aid the next-of-kin of the passengers," she added.

Earlier today, Chew went to the SamaSama Hotel in KLIA to give the team of over 80 volunteers a "moral boost" and to share her own experiences on crisis relief.

"The volunteers must be physically and mentally prepared. They must fill up their personal data so that the authorities will have a record of their health status," she said.

She also said that party's central leaders, a doctor, and professional counsellor will be at KLIA to prepare the volunteers for their tasks.

"We have managed to recruit 80 volunteers so far and we will need more volunteers to come forward to help out the 130 families in translation and counseling," Chew said.

"The volunteers should be multilingual in Mandarin, English and Malay.

"They also have to be ready to provide crisis relief, thus they must also have their passports ready with them to depart with MAS whenever the need arises," she added.
