PRM's Syed Husin Ali has spoken out regarding the uneven relationships in the Barisan Alternatif front in a letter to malaysiakini. In his policy speech at the PRM 36th national congress, he said that the PAS Islamic blueprint, or memorandum, entirely belongs to PAS, and that PRM has nothing to do with it.

Syed Husin added that BA, which consists of PAS, PRM and Keadilan, may have to work towards a new kind of arrangement for loose co-operation among the opposition parties in the event that PAS continues to push its blueprint/memo.

The new opposition party from the merger of PRM and Keadilan - PKR or Parti Keadilan Rakyat - should not play second fiddle to PAS.

PAS uses the issues of the Islamic state and hudud law to consolidate its support, especially in the Muslim heartland states of Kelantan, Kedah, Pahang and Terengganu, although this is causing great difficulty to its BA partners in the other states where there are more mixed constituency seats.

PRM also appears to be realistic that the ruling Barisan Nasional front, though its use-by date has long gone, is going to be around for some time to come. The people, understandingly, are reluctant to throw the party into the trash bin as yet.

PRM has spoken, DAP has spoken, but when will Keadilan speak? The people await.

PAS must also accept that it has to have policies which are consistent with the well-being of the country and its people. Only then can the opposition hope to bring about regime change.
