Much has been said by Education Minister Musa Mohamad about the entry qualification and the practise of meritocracy among students entering university. This year we hear of only one solitary Indian student accepted into the medical faculty as opposed to 16 the previous year.

Any right thinking Malaysian will certainly question the selection process by university authorities and the ministry. Can the ministry, or for that matter prime minister-to-be Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, direct the proper authority to reveal to electorates the selection process?

Be transparent in your selection process - it involves your rakyat , and they have a right to know. Your selection criteria is not a matter concerning internal security, or for that matter an official secret, so why is it kept under wraps?

In the event if all the Indian applicant but one is qualified in the medical faculty, then let it be known to the Indian Community in Malaysia that it is indeed the case.

And have all doubt over the ministry or the university authorities practising double standard dispelled once and for all. Let this matter rest here by revealing to the public the results of all selected candidates.

With grouses of racial polarisation at all levels of education in Malaysia, and intransparency with the selection process, the Malaysian public would certainly think that the ministry themselves are perpetuating a racist policy.

Be fair, reveal the grades of your candidates in those selected into the medical faculty.
