I would like to reply to Suresh Gnasegarah's letter which was published in malaysiakini.

In the letter, Suresh accused PAS of bullying other Barisan Alternatif component members without providing any proof whatsoever. I feel that the accusation is irresponsible and bordering on slander on the part of Suresh, especially when he failed to provide any form of proof to support his claim.

He also claims:"PAS members have long been arrogantly saying that the only reason Keadilan got any seats in the last elections was because of PAS". Again, such a serious accusation like this was never substantiated by Suresh.

Yet the leaders of PAS in Terengganu have repeatedly said that the victory in Terengganu is due to BA and not PAS alone. It is very clear that Suresh has written the letter based upon unfounded premises, and is baseless.

Suresh also claims that PAS introduced the Islamic state blueprint without any reference to its BA partners. As far as I know, PAS has not come up with any blueprint on the Islamic state.

This is in fact clarified by PAS secretary-general Nasharuddin Mat Isa as quoted by malaysiakini: "It is not a memorandum on the Islamic state. It is only the party's memorandum to the people of Malaysia,"

What Suresh does not realise is that the Islamic state has been PAS' goal since the party's inception in 1952. When PAS joined Barisan Alternatif, PAS has never agreed to abandon their Islamic state agenda. But PAS had agreed to uphold the BA manifesto as a common stand.

At the same time, PAS has never insisted that PRM abandon their socialist ideology, DAP to abandon their 'Malaysian Malaysia' tenet, or Keadilan to abandon their 'Free Anwar' agenda.

What binds the opposition parties is their common stand as stated in the BA Manifesto.

Suresh is being very prejudicious for blaming BA's problem solely on PAS. To me, PAS has shown its maturity in being able to compromise their stand on many matters - the Islamic state and much more.

And it is weird for Suresh to demand more information on the Islamic state blueprint when he himself admits that it was not sanctioned by BA. In other words, there is no need for PAS to reveal it to Malaysians since it will not be implemented in the country anyway. Why bother to know about a policy that will never be implemented?.

Suresh and the rest of the Barisan Alternatif members must envy Barisan Nasional component parties' reaction to Dr. Mahathir's Islamic state declaration. In spite of their rejection of the declaration, they were still focused on the main agenda - that of Barisan Nasional

Maybe it is wiser for Suresh to wait until the document is ready before he decides to ridicule it. In short, I think Suresh is not being fair to PAS in his criticism. And he is wrong for blaming PAS for the problems BA is facing now.
