Utusan Malaysia is famous for making racist remarks and the 'Tauke Cina, Mesin Slot ' is yet another example.

I am not supportive of gambling, much less those run by business tycoons. But I worry more about racism than gambling. And I think Muslims with great integrity should also be concerned about racism. Islam as a great religion does not condone it after all.

Utusan's main purpose is to perpetuate racial stereotyping. In doing that, it forges a false sense of superiority among Malays and casts a negative image about Chinese which, don't be surprised, can be used to justify all kinds of social and economic policies.

This was exactly what happened during the British colonial period when the perception/stereotype about lazy/un-enterpreneur Malays had given rise to a British policy that left Malays to live their kampong lives, undisturbed but marginalised.

Already, the perception about Chinese being interested only in money making is used to justify and explain their lack of participation in civil service. Other reasons, such as rampant racial discrimination within the public sector, are being overlooked.

Talk about unity among different ethnic groups? Why don't we start with Utusan Malaysia.
