The attacks against Dr Mahathir Mohamad for backing a controversial scholar has incensed Perkasa vice-president Zulkifli Noordin.
The attacks against Dr Mahathir Mohamad for backing a controversial scholar has incensed Perkasa vice-president Zulkifli Noordin.
In an obvious reference to PAS, the former PKR MP questioned their double standard and pin-drop silence with regard to Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim.
“I wish to ask all you parasites... Are you sincere in defending Islam when you castigate Mahathir and label him all sorts of things to the extent of calling him an infidel just because he organised a dialogue session with (scholar) Kassim Ahmad?
“If you are truly sincere, why were you a ‘silent devil’ in Anwar’s case?
“Not only were you a silent devil, but you were also willing to prostitute politics and your principles by supporting Anwar,” he added in his blog.
Zulkifli said the support for Anwar continued despite him siding with the Christians in the dispute over the usage of the term ‘Allah’, which contravened the stand of PAS’ Syura Council.
“In fact, PAS deputy spiritual leader Haron Din had declared that it is ‘syirik’ (polytheism) for any Muslim to agree or allow Christians to use ‘Allah’.
“So why were you silent when Anwar went against the Syura Council? He even told the Christians at the Holy Family Church in Kajang that Christians can use the term,” he added.
Zulkifli said these quarters would have brought the roof down if Mahathir or Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak had made the same remarks in a church.
Apologise to Mahathir
Describing them as “hypocrites”, the former Kulim Bandar Bahru MP said these “parasites” are motivated by political rewards and not religion.
“This has nothing to do with Allah, and nothing to do with Islam,” he added, calling on them to cease hurling wild allegations and instead apologise to Mahathir.
The event with Kassim Ahmad, which was hosted by Mahathir, had drawn flak from various quarters due to the scholar’s controversial views regarding the hadith and veneration of Prophet Muhammad.
Following this, the Islamic Development Department (Jakim) had called for a probe to be initiated.
