MCA: Has Rafizi unwittingly exposed PKR cronyism?

In exposing Kajang candidate Zaid Ibrahim's alleged abuse, PKR Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli has unwittingly exposed "cronyism" in the PKR-led state government, said MCA.

Selangor MCA liaison committee deputy chairperson Donald Lim said Rafizi had "shot himself and his party in the foot" by accusing Zaid of abusing his position while he was in PKR to gain state government contracts for his cronies
"(It) only proves that PKR does practise cronyism," said Lim in a statement today.
"The fact that Rafizi has only exposed this fact four years after the incident now makes me doubt his claim that PKR does not harbour political cronies.
"His decision to only reveal this now only proves that PKR will always try to protect their members and supporters for their own political interest.
"Thus, this revelation by Rafizi is not because he does not condone cronyism, but is because he wants to help garner support for PKR candidate Anwar Ibrahim," he said.
'Why wait four years?'
Rafizi had attacked Anwar's Kajang by-election rival Zaid, who was former PKR Federal Territories chief before quitting the party, alleging the latter had lobbied for Selangor state land on behalf of "clients".
Yesterday Zaid (left) refuted the allegations saying he was merely helping to put the said persons in touch with the state as a "normal" part of a politician's business.
Annoyed with the allegation, Zaid called Rafizi the PKR de facto leader's "office boy" and "a student of Anwar's politics" and chided him for being "black hearted".
He also asked why Rafizi had not taken him to task over the matter earlier.
Lim echoing Zaid's response said Rafizi "covering up" the fact for the past four years only suggests that "PKR has long practised the art of power abuse and are not as clean as they claim they are".
"The fact that the issue was covered up for four years only shows further that cronyism does exist within PKR," he added.
Lim, who is also MCA Kajang by-election state committee chairperson in support of their candidate Chew Mei Fun, said Rafizi's move has thus backfired.
"While Anwar may try to portray a clean image through Pakatan, it has now become clear that PKR members and leaders have constantly abused their authority to help their own cronies," he quipped.
