Zaid: Water deal checkmated Anwar

Ferdtan: Zaid Ibrahim, who is former law minister, strikes back at PKR once again. With no time wasted he seized the opportunity to drive a wedge between the two leaders, Anwar Ibrahim and Khalid Ibrahim. He has such fixation on Anwar that when he opens his mouth to talk, Anwar is always the topic.

If Zaid is really serious of being the candidate of the Kajang by-election, he is not doing the work of one. He is obviously not campaigning for himself he seems to campaign for the other candidates who are challenging Anwar. For him, it is ABA (Anything but Anwar).

It is so clear that Zaid is acting on behalf of some force (party) which is against Pakatan Rakyat. Those who still think Zaid is a principled man, either he is blind or should have his head examined.

Hermit: Zaid is totally wrong to deduce that the water deal has checkmated Anwar. I may have not reached the height of a legal mind like Zaid, but this is my humble thinking.

It is the brilliant move of Anwar to enter into Selangor assembly that has checkmated PM Najib Abdul Razak and DPM Muhyiddin Yassin to rush and seal off the water deal which Khalid has been fighting for more than five years.

Najib and Muhyiddin were actually trying to steal the limelight, targeting the Kajang folks but in actuality, Anwar has already been in the spotlight.

Gggg: Zaid, if this is what it takes to get the water deal done then so be it. I hope more by-elections on the card so that other issues too be resolved like this.

Boiling Mud: While the praying mantis is hunting for food, the sparrow is stalking it. We don't really know what the final checkmate is going to be like at this point of time, do we? Zaid would be no wiser when the chips fall.

Kheng: I am starting to doubt Khalid Ibrahim's role as MB. He was dead against Langat 2 even to the extent of stating that the cost to built it could be better utilised to improve the water supply and services in Selangor by deploying newer technologies that are available.

Besides, Langat 2 will increase the cost of water supply and result in tariff increases for Selangorians. Why the sudden about-turn?

Anonymous #19098644: The deal was done at the price originally offered by the state, with a RM2 billion sweetener thrown in. It is the end of Syabas, Puncak Niaga and all the other incompetent companies. BN knows that if they don’t sign this while Khalid is here, they might not get the deal from Anwar.

So finally the state will take control of water concessionaires. Whether it is Anwar or Khalid who is MB, they now have the opportunity to show whether they have better management skills than those Syabas cronies.

It shouldn't be too difficult given the incompetence of the existing group. What the rakyat want is reliable affordable water supply, period.

Maplesyrup: To be honest, I am not so sure if the water deal reached by Selangor is good for the state. Maybe I am being distrusting towards BN.

I am beginning to see that whoever is the MB holds a lot of power, since both Anwar and Lim Guan Eng (and probably PAS too) did not seem to know about the signing of this memorandum of understanding, has Khalid adequately considered all angles before crawling into the same duvet as BN?

A Voice From The Wilderness: Khalid was given a chance by PKR to serve as an MB of the most important and richest state in the country, he did exceptionally well as a productive chief administrator. It is time to move on.

There are other fields that demand his services... so be a team player and gain more respect from the electorate and the rakyat. And Zaid, you could never be like Khalid.

Survivor: Khalid Ibrahim's deal is for the people. If Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim makes the deal, it is still for the people. The party that is checkmated is Umno Baru.

Arising from this Kajang move, they were compelled one way or another to make and sign that deal. For PKR, it is a win-win for both Anwar and Khalid. This time round, Umno Baru is the sucker.

SS Dhaliwal: Anwar is to be MB not because of the water deal but to counter current and future politically-motivated attacks on non-Muslims with regard to the ‘Allah’ issue. Khalid is not equipped to counter such tactics, he is not street smart enough.

Anonymous_4056: The PKR party is larger than Selangor MB Khalid and Anwar put together. PKR’s interests come first. If there is no PKR, there is no Khalid or he would never have been menteri besar. If PKR decides Anwar should be the MB, then Khalid has to give up the post.

We are confident that when the time comes, Khalid will come to his senses and yield. There are greater challenges for Khalid when Pakatan takes over Putrajaya. The MB post is just a stepping stone.

Boonpou: Zaid is taking the rakyat for fools. I, for one, was taken to believe he has some integrity for leaving Umno. But of late, I am beginning to question my own judgement.
I say this as well about blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin, who has this huge super-ego just because he thinks so much of himself.

Malaysia is full of such personalities who think they are above and beyond all the loyar burok (braggarts) that frequent our mamak stores.
