Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has disputed a Universiti Malaya poll showing that Kajang voters support the move to replace him with PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.
According to Berita Harian, he said the Universiti Malaysia Centre of Democracy and Elections (Umcedel) poll is only an academic study and does not truly reflect sentiments on the ground.
“I feel that we cannot use this information (Umcedel's poll results) to manipulate what the people want,” he was quoted as saying.
“When asked, respondents may give an answer or not. This is only UM's academic (study).”
Last week, Umcedel presented its findings to show that 59 percent of the 576 Kajang voters it polled agree that the Kajang by-election should be used to pave the way for Anwar to replace Khalid as MB.
In an unrelated development, dangdut singer Herman Tino, who plans to contest as an Independent candidate in the March 23 by-election, will soon post an election theme song on Youtube.
The Star reported that the ‘stinging’ number Nyamuk Nakal, Lipas Liar (Naughty Mosquito, Wild Cockroach) is about Anwar's anticipated bid to become MB.
The daily reported that Herman, 60, likens himself to the mosquito while Anwar is the “wild cockroach” who is “power crazy”.
