MCA has chided PKR parliamentarian Zuraida Kamaruddin for insulting all women politicians by implying that BN's by-election Kajang candidate, Chew Mei Fun, was a "scapegoat" candidate who could not match up to opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.

On Saturday, Zuraida had criticised MCA president Liow Tiong Lai for having "no guts to face Anwar" and said that Chew should have rejected the candidacy as she was expected “to stand up and die” as a political pawn, whenever summoned by men.

Turning the argument around, MCA Youth secretary-general Tee Hooi Ling said that Zuraida (left) had insulted Chew and underestimated all women politicians, by assuming that Chew was not up to mark to do a man's job.

"I would like to point out that Chew is a woman leader of dignity and credibility.

"She has proven herself time and time again during her service as the women, community and family development minister, whereas Pakatan candidate Anwar Ibrahim does not have the same fortitude as Chew," said Tee in a press statement today.

Tee condemned the fact that a women leader like Zuraida was taking potshots at a 'fellow sister' and was disappointed that other usually outspoken DAP women MPs - such as Teresa Kok and Teo Nie Ching - had nothing to say about Zuraida's insult.

On another note, MCA's Tee also accused Anwar of being unmanly.

"How can Anwar claim to have credibility when it was his wife who had to step down as Permatang Pauh MP to make way for him? How can he claim to practise democracy when he holds the position of PKR supreme leader though he was not even elected (as such)?" Tee lamented.
