DAP blasted for blaming MCA for video backlash

MCA has slammed DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang for blaming the BN for giving Umno the impression that Seputeh MP Teresa Kok's video is allegedly offensive to Malays.
MCA has slammed DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang for blaming the BN party for giving Umno the impression that Seputeh MP Teresa Kok's video is allegedly offensive to Malays.
Deputy president Wee Ka Siong (left) in a scathing statement today called Lim "ignorant" that Kok's video was circulated with English subtitles.
"... Lim pointed fingers at MCA president Liow Tiong Lai and myself with an excuse that Kok's video was filmed in Cantonese and Mandarin, hence Umno leaders would never understand the contents of the video.
"Lim's ostrich syndrome has led him to be ignorant about the fact that the video comes with both Chinese and English subtitles.
"Lim should be a respectable senior politician, he should not make us take the blame and describe as us 'whispering to Umno' with such lame excuses," said Wee.
Yesterday Lim challenged Umno's Housing and Urban Wellbeing Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan to show proof of the latter's claims that Kok's satirical video is insulting to the majority race.
In the same statement, Lim blamed 'xiao ren' (troublemakers) in MCA and Gerakan "who had misled Umno ministers and leaders into believing that Teresa Kok’s video was anti-Malay, anti-Islam and anti-Malay rulers".
"Many others are still to be exposed by the 'magic mirror' of Teresa Kok’s video. I would like to see who are the other 'goblins' in the Malaysian political landscape who will be exposed in the coming weeks and months," quipped the veteran leader.
Wee returning the volley said, "As a senior politician, DAP Gelang Patah MP should stop making baseless accusations."
"He should have at least some conscience and stop defaming MCA to divert public attention," he said, adding that Lim was harping on the video issue "to cover up the embarrassing Kajang by-election created by Pakatan Rakyat".
"Lim fails to tell voters that the by-election is deliberately created to resolve PKR's infighting.
"Neither does he inform voters that the by-election is a mistake and that (PKR de facto leader) Anwar Ibrahim eyeing the Selangor menteri besar’s post is another mistake.
"Lim avoided telling voters, too, that DAP is unable to prevent this by-election as Lim's son, who is the DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng was kept in the dark and had no knowledge about it until the media broke the news," he said.
Kok's festive satire uploaded on Youtube has ruffled more than a few feathers and ended in a few chickens being collateral damage as certain offended parties retaliated.
Wee himself appears to be one of the characters lampooned in the video, although Kok has remained coy about the identities of those depicted in the video.
