YOURSAY ‘They know a lie repeated many times will ultimately be taken as the truth.’
'You reap what you sow,' says minister on threats
Imraz Ikhbal: I am Malay Muslim and I seek clarification from Housing and Urban Wellbeing Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan on how exactly DAP has consistently attacked and offended Islam.
I am aware of them attacking Umno for their racist, bigoted and oppressive stance. But Umno does not equal to Islam, does it?
Islam is indeed under siege in this country. Not by DAP or the non-Muslims, but by the bigoted and deviant followers of Allah's beautiful religion.
All this mumbo jumbo about Malay psyche, I am not the least bit offended by DAP. Rather it is Umno and its sickening antics that I am nauseated with.
To Abdul Rahman, my response to his terse tweet reply to MP Lim Lip Eng is simple: "Don't act as though we Malays are all stupid, YB. You shall soon reap what you sow!"
Sali Tambap: Imraz Ikhbal, syabas. That was what I have been thinking: Umno does not equal Islam and Malays.
One way is to examine the last GE result - less than 50 percent Malaysians voted for them. The majority did not. It is very presumptuous of them to take upon themselves that they equal Malays and Islam.
Neither do the thugs who slashed chicken heads and smeared their blood on a banner depicting images of opposition leaders.
Pemerhati: What is sickening, disgusting and nauseating about some of the BN ministers like Abdul Rahman is that they lie blatantly when they say DAP or the opposition has insulted the Agong and Islam and that they relentlessly attacked the position of the Malays and Islam.
They concoct these lies to justify the barbaric and criminal behaviour of the goons, who almost certainly have been organised and financed by Umno to threaten the opposition with bodily harm and another May 13.
They just keep on repeating the baseless lies because they have most probably learnt from their fellow racist and supremacist Nazi, Joseph Goebbels, who said, “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.”
Umno is organising these racist and provocative demonstrations because a lot of Malays who previously supported Umno have gone over to the opposition and more could do so in the future. Umno thus is resorting to its favourite race and religious card.
WDA: Abdul Rahman said that the DAP has relentlessly attacked the position of Malays, Islam and the Agong. That is a sweeping statement which is far from the truth.
Will the minister list the incidents when the DAP did this? Please provide a list in chronological order, state the DAP leader(s) involved, and the specific issue they touched on. Don't take the easy way out by saying you do not have the time as you have a country to run.
We know the game BN is playing by relentlessly attacking the mostly Chinese DAP. They want to create a wedge between the Malays and the Chinese using the 3Rs (race, religion and rulers) and hoping to win back the Malay votes that they lost to PKR and PAS.
They are hoping the Malays will forget all the hardships they are facing due to the rise in prices and all BN’s broken promises. They know a lie repeated many times will ultimately be taken as the truth.
I hope they have underestimated the Malays and the Malays will show that they are not so gullible.
Gerard Lourdesamy: For those Malays/Muslims who are well-versed in the Mandarin language and Cantonese dialect, please tell us where exactly in the video did Teresa Kok insult Islam or the Agong or the Malay race.
The video was a piece of political satire peppered with innuendos. If you are not politically savvy and up-to-date with current affairs, the entire video would be lost on you.
It is Umno and extremist Malay/Muslim NGOs which are turning this video into an attack on Malays and Islam. How pathetic and low can you get?
If criticising government policies or political leaders and their spouses for extravagance and excesses is perceived to be anti-Malay or anti-Islam, we might as well ban democracy, freedom of speech and expression, a free press, political debate and discussion inside and outside of Parliament, and become a one-party state with Umno at the pinnacle of power.
What the heck, ban elections as well. We can become automatons at the beck and call of our political masters.
Swipenter: After more than four decades of discriminating the non-Malays in every field by the Umno government, Abdul Rahman, do you understand the feelings of the former?
Four decades is three generations and there is no end in sight. In the beginning the non-Malays believed in the noble spirit of the NEP (New Economic Policy) and its aim of social engineering exercise, but not anymore because now it is nothing more than a tool for racial discrimination and corruption.
Speechless: Abdul Rahman should stop spreading vicious lies and making baseless accusations about DAP. At no time did DAP attack the position of the Malays and Muslims.
DAP has attacked corruption and corrupt leaders and so have right-thinking Malaysians. It is nauseating that a minister would stoop so low to gain media space.
Jstom: There is this small bunch of 'over sensitive' Malays who see a bogey in everything that non-Malays say or do. I have seen individuals like that and they should be referred for mental evaluation.
Negarawan: This is a typical modus operandi of Umno to protect their selfish interest of plundering the country's wealth. When the truth about Umno's blatant corruption and crime are revealed in public, Umno always tries to divert the public's attention by creating racial and religious tension, i.e the ruse that Malays and Islam are under attack.
This has been standard practice by Umno since the 1960s. All right-thinking rakyat should realise this, and rise above race and religion issues. We must not allow ourselves to fall into Umno's trap.
Apa Nama: Due to upcoming Kajang by election Umno Baru need to get the 48 percent support of Malays in Kajang with all cost. Therefore, from now on, any actions by DAP, PAS and PKR will be subjected to twist, spin, against common sense, logic, etc.
This will ensure that 48 percent Malay in Kajang will give their support to the Umno Baru candidate. This is the reason why Seputeh MP Teresa Kok's video is being walloped to the maximum.
Until the by-election is over, the opposition must refrain from responding and focus on the by-election.
Maplesyrup: Using this minister's logic, I think even the auditor-general is insulting Malays, since the civil service are dominated by Malays. The ability of Umno to twist and pervert the truth is simply revolting.
Abdul Rahman, is it Islamic to spill chicken blood?
