Citizens will not give up Muslim identity
To my detractors who doubt Malaysia's Malay-Muslim identity, let me just say that the challenge is upon you to persuade the Malay-Muslim majority in Malaysia - and perhaps also Indonesia - to give up the claim of being a Muslim country.
I would simply love to watch that take place! What is so wrong with a polity couched in ethno-religious terms? Or do we Muslims now have to succumb to a Western-sponsored worldview based on secular humanism?
Islam rejects secular-humanism. And don't tell me that PAS makes a better choice than Umno. There is no way that you can reconcile PAS' ambition of an exclusivist Islamic state with the tenets of a secular, pluralistic democracy.
Don't forget that (PAS president) Hadi Awang himself said that the Malaysian Constitution is "un-Islamic". What I am asserting is that the BN-Umno power-sharing formula is the only viable formula for a Muslim country with a significant non-Muslim population, like Malaysia.
Of course others may think differently - but my detractors should accept my challenge in convincing Malaysia's Muslims to give up the claim that Malaysia is a Muslim country.
