Calm down, Najib tells Muslim NGOs
JMC: Yes sir, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak. You are right in calling the Muslim NGOs to be calm. Being calm alone is not enough, but acting to ensure that calmness lasts forever and on both sides.
Racists must be punished and it doesn't matter who they are or from which political party they come from. Unless you are serious to act against your own people who are racists, there can be no true peace.
Vanity: I think the PM is totally in the know. He is either unable to act as he has no idea how it is all going to turn out (he may not remain the PM if untoward incidents do occur) or he is using it as a vehicle to turn the people’s attention away from the real problems created by his leadership.
In in the long run, the PM will turn out to be one of the losers, together with the rakyat. But one group will be laughing all the way to leadership, a la "Mugabe".
The rakyat should take the lead by denouncing all untoward acts and maintaining a semblance of logic, rather than emotion, during these testing times. As far as I know, the rakyat has never had conflict over religion. Only particular parties do.
Louis: Najib, it means you knew all this while that racist and inflammatory remarks could have sparked violence and racial strife. However, you chose to keep quiet and observe from the sidelines. Oh my God!
Luckily, there wasn't any serious trouble among the races. This is no way to govern a country. It is not that you are patient with those trouble makers, but you are afraid to act against them, fearing that you might lose your popularity.
Malaysian 1st: Too little too late. The coming Kajang by-election is the cause.

Pemerhati: This is one big ‘sandiwara’ by Najib and Umno. It is very obvious that the various issues and demonstrations that cause racial and religious tension are masterminded by Umno so as to polarise the various ethnic groups (ie, divide and rule) and impress the majority Malays that they are the champions of their race and religion and also distract them from the hardship caused by BN as a result of its policies that resulted in sharp increases in prices.
Najib and Umno’s strategy has been to keep the tension at a controlled level so as to derive maximum political benefit from it, but to not let it get out of hand so that it results in a May 13 type of conflagration, for then there would be serious economic damage and this would be detrimental to the many investments of the Umnoputras.
Najib and Umno will continue to create racial tension at a controlled level because they think it will help them to win the crucial majority Malay vote. But Umno could start a May 13 if it loses the next election.
AZIZ BIN KADER: The PM should explain why if Allah can be used by non-Muslims in Sabah and Sarawak, why can’t the term be used in Semananjung Malaysia.
If a decision is made according to Islamic guidelines, then it is impossible to have two standards. If a decision is made by Umno Islam, it may have two standards.
Cocomomo: The current tension was started by Umno-related and supportive groups by using lies to mislead Muslims to try to enrage them against the others, hoping to gather support for Umno.
However, toning down seems to be needed now, to hopefully con the non-Muslims to support BN in the Kajang by-election! Muslims and non-Muslims must unite against extremism and lies and opportunistic, deceitful politicians.
Negarawan: Najib, although this is a step in the right direction, much more needs to be done to align the 10-point solution with the various state enactments. At the end of the day, everyone must learn to accept the truth, which in the long term will be less painful than not accepting the truth.

I know soon Umno and BN will appreciate and praise the contributions of the Chinese to the economy and the national coffer. Soon, they will say Chinese schools have played their roles and deserve continued government support.
Ksn: Did Najib also tell the NGOs that attended that stern action will be taken, with no exclusions? Did Perkasa attend? But Najib's message must be loud and clear i.e. race and religion should not be abused for any reason and that message must be addressed to all the fanatics, the fanatic NGOs that are known to all. Tan Kim Keong: Three things. First - Najib is anything but a leader. I'm talking about an authentic leader. Go Google to find out what authentic leadership means.
Second - I see a drama that is based on a lot of machinations, written for a particular race, directed by, acted by and played up by people from the same race. Thus a siege mentality prevails among the people from the same race who are deeply engrossed in the drama.
Third - tension is a strained relationship. In this case the tension is created by one side but the other party is calm, peaceful, forgiving and praying for the other party. So there is no tension. Only the party that is creating it says tension is high. Strange people.
Kawak: In reality, there is no tension from the Christian community as they did not demonstrate, disturb mosques, put up banners at mosques, throw Molotov bombs or stomp or burn any effigy or pictures of any Muslim.
The Muslim NGO extremists related to or supported by Umno are the aggressors. They are trying every way to create racial and religion tension. Now, we have an Umno PM trying to "calm down" the Umno-created "tension". Very clever?
