Shabery cautions BN on PKR's political games

Communications and Multimedia Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek has cautioned the BN
over getting trapped in the political games of the opposition PKR.
These games were being played out to divert attention from the various issues that PKR was grappling with and whose leaders lacked the wisdom to resolve, he told reporters after attending a dialogue with undergraduates at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in Seri Iskandar, Perak, last night.

Ahmad Shabery cited the case of the unruly reaction of the supporters of PKR adviser Anwar Ibrahim after he was denied entry into Japan recently.
These supporters demonstrated in front of the Embassy of Japan in Kuala Lumpur and stomped on and burned the Japanese flag.
Ahmad Shabery also referred to the sudden resignation of the PKR assemblyperson for Kajang, Lee Chin Cheh, apparently to allow Anwar to contest the seat in a by-election in what is seen as a move by the opposition leader to become the menteri besar of Selangor.
‘Lee ridiculing the constituents by quitting’
Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is locked in a long-drawn battle with PKR deputy president Azmin Ali.
Ahmad Shabery said the resignation of Lee (left) was tantamount to ridiculing the mandate given by the constituents in an election.
"A by-election is not something easily carried out, and the cost of holding one is not small," he said, adding that this was not the first time that a PKR elected representative had resigned in similar fashion.
PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail had vacated her Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat in 2008 to allow Anwar, her husband, to contest the by-election and become an MP.
A day after Lee announced his resignation, Khalid announced that Anwar would be the PKR candidate for the by-election to be called for the Kajang state seat.
