MIC president G Palanivel has expressed disappointment over the attack by unknown people on the Church of Assumption in Lebuh Farquhar in Penang.     

He said religious places of worship should be respected and not attacked.   
  
"It's definitely wrong to throw Molotov cocktails - what more at a church," he said in a statement in Kuala Lumpur today.   
    
Palanivel (left) was commenting on the attack on the Church of the Assumption in Lebuh Farquhar, Penang, where two Molotov cocktails were thrown into the church compound at about 1.30am early yesterday morning.             

Urging tighter security and increased police patrols, he added such incidents would hurt the sentiments of every Malaysian and lead to unnecessary tension among the multiracial community.    
           
In a separate statement, Palanivel said he would lead MIC to become a stronger party and would continue to strive in uplifting the Indian community by solving issues in all aspects of social, health, political, economic and housing needs.
