Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has said that any decision to appoint someone as MB of the state must be done with the consensus of all three Pakatan Rakyat parties and the Selangor sultan.

Asked if it is true that the resignation of Kajang assemblyperson Lee Chin Cheh is part of a coup to oust him, he replied: "No such thing."

"An MB's appointment must have the consensus of all three parties (in Pakatan Rakyat). The MB candidate must be chosen and and agreed upon by the parties.

"They must also inform the sultan and get his consent. There are a lot of procedures," he told reporters when met in Kuala Lumpur today.

He also dismissed claims that PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim (left) will be contesting in the imminent Kajang by-election in order to replace Khalid.

"There have been no discussions (about it)," he said, although adding that he “would not be surprised” if there is indeed a coup against him.

When asked if he would agree to vacate the position if DAP and PAS concede to it, he said: "It can be done only if all three parties sit together to decide so."

"There must be a discussion, and right now there is none as yet," he stressed.
