The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will tomorrow charge a former political secretary and a foundation director for alleged misappropriation of funds exceeding RM1 million, involving three foundations.

In a statement, MACC director of investigation Mustafar Ali (right) said the former political secretary, who is a “Datuk”, was arrested this morning while the director was picked up later in the day. Both have been released on RM50,000 bail.

He said that the duo, who held the positions of director and shareholder of the three foundations, and that the money taken opposed the establishment of the foundation.

The duo will be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court tomorrow for misappropriation of funds amounting to more than RM1.1 million and for fraud involving funds amounting to RM1 million.

Mustafar added that in relation to this case, another foundation director, also a “Datuk”, has been arrested for alleged offences under the Companies Act.
