Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia today took potshots at PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim by citing Japanese porn star Maria Ozawa's entry ban into Indonesia.
 
In an editorial by Awang Selamat - a pseudonym for the newspaper's editors - today, the daily said Ozawa did not complain about her entry ban when it was imposed in 2009.

Ozawa was to star in an Indonesia comedy titled, 'Menculik Miyabi' that year. After the ban, filmmakers shot her scenes in Tokyo.
 
"Awang is impressed with Ozawa's openness even though she is labelled immoral because of her career. A porn star knows better in accepting reality," read the editorial.
 
Although there was no mention of Anwar's name, the preceding article highlighted his recent barring from Japan due to his 1999 corruption conviction.
 
"Blaming the Japanese government and Malaysia is an unwise move and insults himself," said the daily.
 
The daily added that Anwar should abide by Japanese laws and apply for a special visa for entry, due to his conviction which bars him from normal entry.
 
It also blamed Anwar for inciting the burning of Japanese flags by his party members, an action which Anwar had publicly criticised.
 
Anwar believes that there were political motives involved in the entry ban because he had successfully visited Japan three times after 1999.
