Police shot dead one of three suspected robbers-cum-snatch thieves on the Middle Ring Road Two (MRR2) near Ampang last night.

The three, two men and a woman, in a Proton Satria, were earlier seen acting suspiciously in a housing area in Wangsa Maju at 8.30pm.

Kuala Lumpur deputy CID chief ACP Khairi Ahrasa said they were ordered to exit the car but it sped off towards Cheras after ramming a police motorcycle.

"A special team in a MPV from the Sentul District Police Headquarters chased the car for 10km. They shot at the car four times. One bullet hit the driver's head.

"The car stopped abruptly near Ampang and the other two suspects were nabbed. The driver was sent to the Ampang Hospital and was confirmed dead at 5.40am," he told reporters at the scene.

Khairi said the suspects' car damaged at least eight cars and two motorcycles in their getaway attempt.

He said police found a bag which was believed to have been robbed from a victim in Wangsa Maju, drug-taking paraphernalia and two parang in the car.

He said the police also found tools which were believed to have been used by the trio, aged between 20 and 30, to commit robberies.
