Refusing to comment on news of her application to annul her marriage, PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar now says she and her husband of 10 years are still working to save the marriage.
In a brief joint statement, the Lembah Pantai MP and her husband Raja Ahmad Shahrir Raja Salim said they are "doing (their) utmost to work out (their) continuing union".
The couple, who has a seven-year-old daughter and four-year-old son, also sought privacy in this personal matter.
"Our family is our priority, as is our time together," they said.
The Star Online citing syariah court documents reported that Nurul had filed for fasakh (dissolution of marriage) in December while her husband received the petition this month.
The couple's full statement is below:
We are deeply saddened by the undignified intrusion into our private lives and will do our utmost to work out our continuing union.
Our family is our priority, as is our time together.
We thank all our supporters for their kind understanding, and appeal to all to accord us privacy.
