Pupils from Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Seaport in Petaling Jaya, who fail to report to a new school, risk being expelled, said Selangor Education Director Mahmud Karim.

He said the Education Ministry would help parents who do not want send their children to the new SJKT Seaport to register them at another nearby school.

"With the relocation of SJKT Seaport to a new building since the school term reopen recently, its operations at the old site had ceased," he said in a statement today.

Mahmud said the Selangor State Development Corporation had taken over the old school site for a housing project and built the new school in Kampung Lindungan, Petaling Jaya, 2.5km from the old site.

He said most pupils had reported at the SJKT Seaport as agreed over a series of discussions with the exception of a small group.

Several news portal reported that 23 SJKT Seaport students had chosen to start the school session under a tree in a field, claiming the school's had closed suddenly.

Deputy Education Minister P. Kamalanathan had intervened and asked the parents and guardians to send their children to a school or risk missing the registration for the UPSR examination.
