Syarikat Air Terengganu Sdn Bhd (SATU) will carry out a massive water disconnection operation if consumers still fail to settle their arrears by the beginning of February.       

“As stated in Section 89(2)(a) of the Water Services Industry Act 2006, consumers must settle their bills 30 days from its receipt.  

“Thereafter, a 14-day notice of a water disconnection under Section 89(3) of the same Act will be issued if they fail to do so,” SATU chief executive officer Husain Embong told Bernama in a statement in Kuala Terengganu today.   

And if they still do not pay up after the 14 days the water cut would be carried out as per Section 89(4) of the Act, he added.   

Supply would be reconnected within 24 hours of settling the current bill, arrears and charges for cutting, he said.  

“Therefore, we wish to inform and advise consumers to settle their arrears within the set time frame in order to avoid any inconvenience,” he said.
