With former Transport Minister Ling Liong Sik crying foul over his prosecution, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang says it strengthens his call for a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) on the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal.

“No stone should be left unturned to ensure that Ling and another former transport minister, Chan Kong Choy, should be given justice, if it is true that they had been wrongly accused of corruption in the PKFZ scandal.

“An RCI is now the only avenue left for Ling and Chan to get justice, even though the latter, according to Ling (right), had been spared the ‘hell’ and ‘torture’ he had to endure in his own trial,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Lim was responding to an interview published on Sinchew Daily yesterday, where Ling claimed that the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) had only began to gather evidence against after charging him for cheating the cabinet over the billion-ringgit scandal.

He was acquitted in October last year, whereas similar charges against Chan were dropped on Jan 13 this year.

As a result of the prosecution, Ling says he has lost faith in the judicial system and could not forgive the AGC.
