YOURSAY 'It's a classic Freudian slip on PM Najib Razak's part.'

Kangkung saga rages on

Sonofmsia: It is scary to know the depth to which kangkung PM Najib Razak is out of touch with reality.

You just have to look at his face when he made the speech, he was so confident of his argument that the rakyat are being unjust to BN, and that the people should be happy just with the kangkung price drop.

Pemerhati: As a result of former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s racist recruitment policies in the public sector, which includes the education sector and the universities, we often hear of kangkung professors. Now we also have a kangkung prime minister.

1braincell: It's a classic Freudian slip on Najib's part. He inadvertently revealed the contempt in which he holds the 'hoi polloi' - the rakyat, the local yokels who had lined up to get his RM500 handouts before the elections.

But people are not as dumb as their ‘misrulers’ assume.

Sali Tambap: We have the Batman, Superman, etc, and now the Kangkungman. Malaysia Boleh cannot be outdone, that's for sure.

Kangkung, oh, kangkung. Do you think kangkung should protest in the way its name is being made use of, like copyright it?

Bala: Don't abuse the word ‘kangkung’. It might be banned in Malaysia except for Sabah and Sarawak.

Idiot: With this rage about kangkung I expect the Perak mufti might declare a fatwa on kangkung.

Justathougt: I don't know how the term 'Banana Republic' came about, but are we seeing the making of a 'Kangkung Republic'?

Onyourtoes: Here we are talking endlessly about kangkung, when the election court has thrown out the Lubok Merbau state seat petition again. If the 'Allah' row is a distraction, I think the kangkung issue is a bigger one.

Why the endless giggles, tweets, comedies and videos being circulated around 'kangkung'? Maybe the middle class is not really affected by the price hike. Those who are really down and out have no voice or do not know how to make noise.

Trust me, I know what it is to be downtrodden. You don’t blame anyone for your misery because you don’t know the government is responsible, or that society is supposed to help you.

Anwar: Is Zaid getting his news only from Utusan?

RR: PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim must take the stand for what his foe, former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad, did when the sultans' privileges were curbed or removed in the 1984 constitutional crises.

The Selangor government being elected by the majority cannot be just wagging its tail for good and bad deeds at the same time. Anwar should call a spade a spade. The majority of Malays are sensible and intelligent and will accept enlightened views.

It is only the few Umno fanatics who are calling the shots on the 'Allah' issue for their political survival. I am sure Anwar knows this.

Heavenly King: Actually, former law minister Zaid Ibrahim took a snipe at Anwar. Pakatan, including many of its top leaders, have said the raid was in bad faith. Except PAS' ulama chief, Haron Din (is he a mole?).

Umno started the fire and so Najib is the one who must make a clear stand.

Wira: Anwar, it is necessary for you to make a public statement to reaffirm the stand of your coalition. The people need to be assured that your stand has not changed in these trying times, especially when the ulama wing of PAS has also come out with their own conflicting stand.

Unless you make a strong reaffirmation, how can your supporters know that you have not reneged on your position, just like what the federal government did with that 10-point solution?

Raja Chulan: Anwar is never known for his intellect nor sincerity in dealing with sensitive and pressing situations. He only knows how to play the politics of race, religion and emotions. He is nothing but an opportunist and a political chameleon all his life.

Student activism, Abim, Umno and Keadilan are all mere opportunistic bandwagons for his ego and madness.

Why is Anwar so afraid of Umno and the sultan? Can't he as the leader of the opposition to tell them off?

MockingYou: Not that I like Anwar but in this case, I really pity him. Nothing short of a public denouncement of the regime and Jais (Selangor Islamic Religious Department) would do for many Pakatan supporters and some BN opportunists. All the best, old boy.

Vision2020: What Selangor Pakatan Aduns as a political team need to do is to take the bull by its horns and enlighten our beloved Selangor sultan and seek the sultan's blessing to put a stop on this Allah plot through the federal constitution that was enshrined by our forefathers and where liberty, equality and justice will prevail over ignorance, fear and insecurity between Muslims and non-Muslims via historical facts and documentation, and table a referendum in the state assembly accordingly.
